# Variable: lightSlot

```ts
const lightSlot: typeof renderLight = uiViewSlot;
```

Defined in: [packages/lit-ui-router-ssr/src/client.ts:211](https://github.com/simshanith/lit-ui-router/blob/3ab90929a8d23dda96e259d7396a274c5b05398e/packages/lit-ui-router-ssr/src/client.ts#L211)

The hole a `LightDomHydrating` element fills, written at the use site: the
[uiViewSlot](uiViewSlot.md) directive under a name that does not read as a view.

On the server it reaches `LightElementRenderer`'s `renderLight()`, so the
element's own render goes where the template puts it. On the client it wakes
the element when the enclosing walk reaches it, parent first, and pins the
adopter to it.

## Example

```ts
html`<app-card .title=${title}>${lightSlot()}</app-card>`;
```
