# Type Alias: BootstrapSignature

How a boot compares with the [hydration](../functions/readHydrationSignature.md) the document carried.

* `matched`: the boot transition landed on the state and url parameters the
  signature names.
* `elsewhere`: the document carried a signature, and the boot landed on
  another state or other parameters — a redirect, or a static host serving
  one document for a family of urls. A signed document whose boot landed no
  transition reports this too, beside `outcome: 'cold'` and its `error`.
* `absent`: the document carried no signature.

A signature from another release line, or one no render marker follows, is
still compared, though the container renders cold.
